Description
This is a fine original U.K. pressing copy of the sole LP by British punk group X-Ray Spex, released in 1978. The group stood out in a few ways: two of their members, singer Poly Styrene and saxophonist Lora Logic, were women, and Styrene was of mixed race; and the presence of the sax gave the group a unique sound in the context of punk's first wave. Five of the record's dozen tracks appeared on contemporaneous singles, though missing is the group's in-your-face feminist debut single, "Oh Bondage Up Yours!" (which came out on the Virgin label). Styrene soon after departed to pursue a solo career, and Logic formed the arty post-punk group Essential Logic. Two other members of the group helped form '80s synth pop group Classix Nouveaux. The laminated jacket has a hard-to-see 3” split in the top seam and some curving and light creasing at the edge, but is otherwise close to pristine (EX). The disc is clean, and other than a bit of surface noise in the lead-in to side 2, it plays like new -- M(-). The record comes with a custom inner sleeve (EX+).
I am in the process of selling off a large personal collection amassed over two decades. All discs have been stored in plastic lined inner sleeves separate from their jackets. The jackets have been stored in plastic sleeves. I have play graded (spot checked) discs except where otherwise noted.
If you'd like to order multiple items, I'll happily combine them so that you won't have to pay multiple shipping charges.
