FACTORY, TIME MACHINE b/w CASTLE ON THE HILL, MEGA RARE 1970 OAK RECORD LABEL 45 SINGLE (1 of only 99 pressed) CATALOGUE No RGJ 718.
The record label OAK RECORDS was set up in 1962 by Derek and R.G.Jones at Morden Park Studios. The label was named after the location of Derek’s Folkclub , then held at The Oak Hotel in Surbiton. This now feverishly collected label was set up in the first instance to record popular Folksingers but was expanded to cover the Sound of The 6o’s Music. R.G. Jones played host to sessions by groups such as The Moody Blues, The Who, David Bowie & Sonny Boy Williamson. The Yardbirds and The Rolling Stones made their first demo discs at the studio.
Collectors will know how rare these Oak Label Records are, this one is not in top condition but nevertheless a playable example, see images of the vinyl and labels at the top and below in my description.
Both record labels are in Very Good Plus condition showing some play signs on each label.
Side 1 matrix. RGJ 716 A & side 2. RGJ 716 B.
The play quality is good and plays through with background crackle and the odd click, but both tracks play through without skips.
Both vinyl surfaces are in Good condition, both surfaces show surface scratches and hairlines, I would say side 2 is visually slightly better condition.
