This great sounding 1963 UK MONO was 'contract' pressed by PYE Records on the black & yellow Parlophone label: PMC 1206
PYE pressings differ from EMI discs chiefly by the disc's 'knife edge' profile, different stamper codes and, to our ears, superior sound quality.
Matrices: XEX 447-7N & XEX 448-7N
Stamper codes: 3,12, P, B,6/A & P, B 5, 2,11/GR
Vinyl weight: 164g
Housed in a front laminated, 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed mono cover with the 'You Really Got A Hold On Me' spelling on the rear tracklisting.
Complete with original rice-paper lined 'Use Emitex...' inner-sleeve.
CONDITION
DISC
Visual: EXCELLENTSuper-clean, deep-gloss playing surfaces which apart from a couple of light, non-feelable hairlines are unmarked in strong daylight. Close examination beneath halogen light reveals just some harmless wispy paper hairlines from the inner-sleeve.
Audio: EXCELLENT
This refined sounding copy has been played with care on good equipment and the sound quality is full, clean and clear throughout. Aside form a little regular, low-level vinyl background between tracks, there is nothing to fault on this hard to find variant disc which will not disappoint.
Cover: VERY GOOD +
A respectable, fully intact example of this iconic cover which retains a clean front panel bearing just two 'thumbnail' wrinkles and minor storagwear rubbing. All corners are in good shape with no heavy bumps or bruising and the opening edges are free from any tears or feathering. The rear panel has moderate age-toning but no writing or missing paper. Both seams are smooth & unstressed and the spine is clean & fully worded.
Inner-sleeve: VERY GOOD +
Clean & flat with small initials written in one upper corner but no tears or seam splits.
