Description

Up for auction is a nice, original copy of the Marvin Gaye album "What's Going On" originally released in the U.S. on Tamla Records (TS 310) in 1971.

Note:
The original pressings of this album had different song times on the labels from what they are listed as on the back of the cover. 

Condition:
The cover is in nice condition, with only light signs of wear.  Front and back look clean and bright, just a hint of rubbing top and bottom middle.  Seams are nice, no splits, no cracks.  Corners are nice, sharp.  Spine is tight, not creased--I don't think the gatefold has ever been opened completely.  Interior is clean, fresh.  Nicely preserved copy.  Grade: Excellent (EX), better than typical VG+ copies.

The vinyl is also in nice condition, still retains much of its original glossy shine.  No obvious scratches or scuffs, just some light, superficial signs of having been taken out of paper inner sleeve a couple times.  This record has been in my collection for 35 years, played only once, then archived.  Very well-preserved.

Play-Tested: I have play tested this record, and the sound quality is very good, no loud pops, clicks, or skips.  Run-in grooves have some light background noise, which disappears once music starts.  Some slight background/pressing noise here and there, typical of these '70s pressings.  Not audiophile perfect, but still a nice record to listen to.  Grade: Excellent (EX).
