Description

THE BEATLES - 'WITH THE BEATLES'

1963 UK 2nd STEREO PRESSING LP

This hard-to-find pressing dates from the first half of 1964 and is on the yellow & black Parlophone label: PCS 3045

Both labels omit the 'Sold in UK..' text but carry 'Parlophone Co. Ltd..' worded rims.

The publishing credit for song 'Money' is 'Dominion.Belinda (Ldn.) Ltd. NCB'

The 'NCB' should not have been present and is not present on the credit of the 2nd mono pressing.

The track 3 title on side 2 is correctly spelt as: 'You Really Got A Hold On Me'

The 'KT' purchase tax code is visible around the side 2 centre hole.

Housed in a front laminated, tri-flipback 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printed cover with the short-lived 'mid-sized' stereo logo.

The track listing on the rear misspells track 3 on side 2 as 'You Really Gotta Hold On Me'

Complete with its original 'Use Emitex..' rice-paper-lined inner-sleeve.

Matrix numbers: YEX 110-2 & YEX 111-2

Stamper codes: 2/RH & 2/RP

Disc weight: 158g

CONDITION

Disc

Labels: EXCELLENT

A vivid & vibrant pair with just some clumsy spindle marks on side 2 but no other visible wear.

Visual: EXCELLENT

Bright, clean & deep-gloss playing surfaces with just several insignificant light hairlines visible in strong daylight but no careless scuffs or any other surface marks. Careful examination directly beneath my powerful halogen desk lamp reveals little more than some harmless wispy inner-sleeve removal-type hairlines and a sparkling rainbow shine but again, no major blemishes. Both sides of this well-preserved copy lie 100% flat both sides when playing.

Play: EXCELLENT

All tracks on this carefully played and well-looked after copy play without any significant deterioration to the sound quality or indeed any major faults. My careful playcheck at volume detected nothing more than a touch of light background between tracks and a little on 'All I Gotta Do'. However, there are certainly no clicks, pops, jumps or any other such distraction throughout this very pleasing copy.

Cover

VERY GOOD

A strong and firm example of this rare cover variant which retains a bright & unyellowed front panel. There are several small wrinkles to the spine and a handful of light 'thumbnails' above Ringo and a further light crease to the left of his chin. However, apart form a little shelfwear, there is no major wear to any corner. The front opening edge is slightly discoloured but free from any tears or feathering. The rear panel, as you can see, has some discolouration and blemishes from storage & handling, but no writing or missing paper. All flipbacks are intact and both seams are smooth, unstressed & unsplit. The spine, apart from several small bends, is undamaged and fully worded.

Inner-sleeve

VERY GOOD -

General storagewear & slight discolouration with small splits to each side seam but no writing or other damage.
