Description
THE BEATLES - 'WITH THE BEATLES'
1963 UK 1st MONO PRESSING LP
This early UK mono pressing dates from late 1963 & has -1N/-1N matrices. This cut featured the earliest and most powerful mix which was withdrawn a matter of days after release after complaints form buyers about jumping. However, no such problems exist when played on modern turntables and you can fully enjoy the massive & incredible initial mix as it was originally approved and intended to be heard.
This spectacular copy bears the familiar yellow & black Parlophone label with the catalogue number: PMC 1230
Both labels omit the 'Sold in UK..' text but carry 'Parlophone Co. Ltd..' worded rims.
The publishing credit for song 'Money' is 'Dominion.Belinda (Ldn.) Ltd.'
The track 3 title on side 2 is spelt as: 'You Really Got A Hold On Me'
An 'MKT' purchase tax code is visible around the side 1 centre.
Housed in the rarer front laminated, tri-flipback 'Ernest J. Day' printed mono cover.
The rear track listing mispells track 3 on side 2 as 'You Really Gotta Hold On Me'
Complete with its original 'Use Emitex..' poly lined inner-sleeve.
Matrix numbers: XEX 447-1N & XEX 448-1N
Stamper codes: 11/GGR & 3/RDL
Disc weight: 157g

Labels: NEAR MINT
An unblemished pair with just a hint or wear to each centre hole but no other signs of wear.
Visual: EXCELLENT +
Immaculate & pristine playing surfaces which shine 'as new' in strong daylight and bear only two barely visible faint surface marks on side 1 (which appear to be light fingernail scuffs) but absolutely no scratches or any other signs of wear whatsoever. Even careful examination directly beneath my unforgiving halogen light reveals no other blemishes or any other traces wear - not even any wispy paper-type hairlines are present. Needless to say that both sides of this amazing copy lie 100% flat both sides when playing.
Play: NEAR MINT
Flawless, unworn audio on this copy which allows the incredible power of this mix shines through on every track. My single careful play-check at volume found no evidence of any groove/playwear on any track or in either channel. Both run-ins and all bands play without interference and there is not a single tick, clicks or pop on the entire album. You will not need to upgrade this one.
Cover
NEAR MINT
An amazing example of this fragile and easily worn cover which at first glance looks as if it left the shops last week, let alone 47 years ago. The front panel is perfectly clean & unyellowed with just a touch of storage rubbing to the high-gloss laminate but no 'thumbnails' or even a single spine bend. All corners are perfectly clean & sharp and free from any rubbing, bumps or bruises. The front opening edge is completely unworn and there are just a few tiny 'pushes' to the rear one together with a small creases from manufacture to the left the top of the side 1 tracklist. The rear panel itself is clean & white with just a few tiny and faint age spots but certainly no writing or missing paper. All of the delicate flipbacks are present and fully intact with no repair or wear to any. Both seams are completely smooth with no flaking laminate, stresses or splits. The spine is in perfect condition.
Inner-sleeve
EXCELLENT +
Clean & correct with just a touch of unavoidable light storage creasing but no writing, seam splits or tears.
