Welcome to 20th Century Collectables
A stunning and original 1963 UK mono -1N first pressing with yellow & black Parlophone rim labels and without 'Sold in UK..' text.
As collectors will know -1N pressings have (virtually without exception) the earlier and incorrect label variation i.e. Jobete credit for ‘Money’ and the misspelling of ‘You Really Gotta Hold on Me’. What makes this record so unusual is that it is the earliest possible matrix pressing but has the late and final corrected label variation with the correct spelling of ‘You Really Got a Hold on Me’ instead of ‘Gotta’ and has the correct publishing credit for ‘Money’ i.e. Dominion Belinda instead of ‘Jobete’. This record is a genuine rarity and is in stunning audio and visual condition.
Mastered at unusually high volume with an enhanced dynamic the -1N pressings were quickly superceded by a succession different matrix pressings before finally arriving at the final and most common -7N cut in late 1963. If any Beatles record deserves the name ‘loud cut’ it is the -1N of ‘With The Beatles’. It comes in an excellent 1st issue patents pending Garrod & Lofthouse cover.

Visual: Nr MINT
A stunning looking record which has only been played a few times since new. The record appears mint in strong daylight and shows only the faintest signs of light handling and whispy sleeve removal marks under a bright halogen light. The heavy duty vinyl lies 100% flat on the turntable.
Audio: Nr MINT
An absolute stunning sounding copy with the unmistakable dynamic sound of -1N first pressing. There is no evidence of any groove wear. Every track sounds vibrant and fresh with barely any surface noise between tracks. There are no skips, jumps, pops or ticks. A great listening experience and a superb audio example of this much sought after first pressing.
Labels: EXCELLENT+
A great set of labels with no trace of spindle trails or writing.
Cover
EXCELLENT
This is the earliest version of this cover with the misspelt ‘gotta’ and the heavier darker image of the Beatles; later copies being much lighter. The laminate still retains its high gloss finish. There is a disc impression to the front but no laminate wear. There is some bruising and light wear to the bottom right corner. The back cover shows some signs of discoloration and ageing. All flipbacks are intact and there is no writing to any area of the back panel. A well preserved example of this iconic Robert Freeman cover which is now nearly 50 years old.
Inner-sleeve EXCELLENT
Clean & correct with just a touch of light storage creasing but with no writing or seam splits.
