Description

The one and only Waylon created this album as the third in a series which cemented his role in the outlaw country movement. This was the first under a renegotiated contract with RCA that gave Jennings artistic control and allowed him to release music that represented his rugged, renegade spirit. The title song of the album hit #8 on the Billboard country charts and was rated by Holler Country as the 4th best of Waylon's many releases. The album garnered a 5-star rating from the All Music Guide that describes it as "the quintessential Waylon Jennings outlaw record." All this to say it is a must have for any country music fan. Sung like only Waylon could, the raw emotions boldly resonate through all ten tracks. Side 1 features the title ballad along with Freedom to Stay, Lay It Down, Gone to Denver, and Good Time Charlie's Got the Blues. Side 2 includes You Can Have Her, Pretend I Never Happened, San Francisco Mabel Joy, Sandy Sends Her Best, and Me and Bobby McGee.
