Wagner Orchestral Music Klemperer Aust Columbia SAXO 2347 / 2348 Magic Notes 2 LPs
The Philharmonia Orchestra conducted by Otto Klemperer performs orchestral music from Wagner including Overtures for the “Flying Dutchman”, “Meistersinger” and “Tannhauser” in addition to pieces from Lohengrin”, “Tristan and Isolde” and “Gotterdammerung”. A two record set, this is an Australian stereo pressing on the Columbia Label (SAXO 2347 -2348). The labels are blue/green with silver border and “radio waves” and black Columbia and stereo flash. The records are of slightly worn appearance with a few scuffs on side three, and play and sound superb with occasional surface noise. The box top laminate has rubbed, three of the corners have split and there is wear along the edges on the back. The box is printed mono, but has a stereo sticker applied and the records are stereo The booklet is excellent.
