Description
This auction is for a VERY NICE record album by Waylon Jennings, his debut album titled "Waylon at JD's"; this specific record is one of the first pressing copies from BAT Records; their number BAT-1001. There were only 500 records pressed, all of which were sold exclusively at J.D. Musil's nightclub; when the first 500 had been sold out, another 500 were pressed on the "Sounds" label--so would have to call this copy a fairly rare album! (In 1969, Decca Records purchased the rights to the album and also re-issued it, in an abridged form.)
Using the Goldmine Record Grading Standards, I would rate this record as Very Good Plus (VG+), could grade even higher but like to be on the conservative side. Vinyl has an excellent sheen; no spindle or label wear; might find a small scuff or finger print found here or there, visually a very good looking album! Has the original Glassine album sleeve; cover is in very nice shape with no blow outs, no ring wear. Cover opening is at the top edge, don't know if this was common or if it is a mis-print of some kind; the back side of cover has a little bit of marring around the "band line up" (as seen in listing photographs) which includes Waylon Jennings - Lead; Jerry Gropp - Rythm; Paul Foster - Bass and Richard Albright - Drums.
Other information on the back cover includes: "Recorded in the studios of Audio Recorders; Phoenix, Arizona; December, 1964; Equipment used: AMPEX; Master Recorder, Telefunken and Altec Condenser microphones. Bat Records -- Phoenix, Arizona; Produced by James D. Musil, Jr.; Recording Engineer: Jack Miller."
