Description
Wanda Landowska, born July 5, 1879 - died in Lakeville, Connecticut, August 16, 1959, began playing piano at the age of four, studied at the Warsaw Conservatory with Jan Klezynski and Alexsander Michalowski, studied also composition in Berlin under Heinrich Urban, lessons in Paris with Moritz Moszkowski. From 1900 - 1912 she taught piano at the Schola Cantorum and from 1912 - 19 harpsichord at the Berlin Hochschule für Musik. Etablished the Ecole de Musique Ancienne at Paris in 1925, from 1927 her home in Saint-Leu-la-Forêt became a center for the performance and study of old music. Settlet 1941 to the States, from 1949 in Lakeville, re-etablished as a performer and teacher, touring extensively.
Album Set with 6 records 12" French Disc "Gramophone" DB 4906-14: Bach, Goldberg Variations. Recorded in Paris, November 1933. Her first recordings on HMV DB series. Limited edition for subscribers, two different booklets ( in french and english ). Condition: 1-2, Album Set VG+

1 = mint, never played on gramophone, is not used
1-2 = top copy, no traces of use - virtually as new
2 = excellent copy, few light non-sounding rubs/marks
2-3 = light traces of wear (rubs/marks), very light greying and/or light scratches, non sounding blemishes

3-4 = more traces of use, sonic wear from light greying. An inferior average copy, light scratches possible
4 = some sounding wear, heavier rubs and marks, scratches possible
5 = obvious sounding wear, heavy rubs, marks, scratches. An unsatisfactory copy.
