Vashti Bunyan - Just Another Diamond Day
Philips Records - 6308 019 - 1970
Description: This record is a kind of document of a pilgrimage lasting a year and a half. Vashti and Robert and Bess (the horse) and Ble (the Dog) and an old green wagon fleeing London for the Outer Hebrides. Half way there they stopped for the winter and a friend brought Vashti back to London for a short visit. She rang me: did I remember her? And of course I remembered. I had heard her three years before at a poetry reading, singing songs of delicate beauty that melted me on the spot. I had tried without success to persuade her to make a record but she had gone on to record in other contexts, all unrewarding, before she set out for the north. Vashti's songs may seem unreal to urbanised listeners, but they shoul listen with open hearts and minds; I have never known anyone whose msuic is so completely a reflection of their life and spirit. Joe Boyd.

Cover in Very Good condition - a little rubbing around the edges and on the corners, a little scuffed on front where label has been removed otherwise excellent.
Record in Excellent Condition, record was played and tested recently and apart from the rare pop or crackle, there is one 15 second section where a repeated click can be discerned but one is so wrapped up in the beauty of this music that it is hardly noticeable - Please bid before I change my mind and keep it!
Sent to you in a sturdy record mailer - recorded post if requested

The record was bought over twenty years ago in a record store in Weymouth, Dorset, England. I found it in the 'bargain bucket' - the scuff mark on the cover is where the reduced price label was stuck. I bought the record as I had heard of several of the musicians, but until recently had not realised that the string sections were arranged by Robert Kirby who also arranged for Nick Drake, one of my other all-time faves. It was bought at the height of the Punk era and I suppose was not deemed 'fashionable'.
I calculate that I have played the disk a couple of dozen times, shown by the lack of wear to the spindle hole and only light wear to the sleeve.
I pulled it from my collection last week and looked at the going rate on ebay and couldn't believe that it was so valuable. This record has turned out to be an excellent investment for me and I think that it will increase in value over the coming years. Bills need to be payed, and that is the only reason I am selling.
I will offer extra insurance for shipping to the winning bidder, and ensure that the item is well protected and packaged for transportation
