Description

Born in Panama (1902-1963), Luis Russell was a jazz pianist who played first in Panama, then in New Orleans, then in Chicago (with King Oliver) and finally in New York City where he made sides under his own name for ARC.  This Melotone, recorded on September 8, 1934, features  "Primitive," an instrumental described as "precision jazz" and "My Blue Heaven," with a vocal by Sonny Woods.  Condition E
