ORIGINAL UNPLAYED PINK ISLAND UK MONO 45

legendary relentless stomper and a psychy freakbeat classic, as many of you will already be aware - among the truly great pop records of that primitive pre-prog late 60s era. . . this slice of priceless vinyl treasure came directly from an ex UK radio DJ (who never played it) into my hands more than 30 years ago, and has remained untouched and unplayed ever since - the surfaces are absolutely perfect, with that just-pressed lustre only seen on genuinely unplayed factory-fresh records - these sides gleam with dazzling gloss like polished jet-black glass, yet this superb original UK 45 is almost 47 years old - an incredible single, one of the very first to grace the new pink Island label design (WIP 6005, so only the sixth release!) and in storming, bruising mono, of course - the splendid rich pink labels, with the original 3-prong centre fully intact, are totally immaculate and as new - The V.I.P.s, having briefly re-christened themselves The Vipps, would soon undergo metamorphosis into Art, and then beyond into Spooky Tooth - for this single, the personnel remained Mike Harrison (vocals), Jimmy Henshaw (lead guitar), Frank Kenyon (rhythm), Greg Ridley (bass) and Walter Johnstone (drums) - it’s interesting to note that, just prior to the name change to Art, Keith Emerson was recruited to the line-up before soon departing to form The Nice - original pink company bag (although Island would not begin widely using the pink covers until 1968) - this beauty is one of the very rarest and hardest to find pink Island 45s and it would be impossible to find a better copy!
