Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. Original 1972 BRITISH collectible in lavish laminated gatefold sleeve. The first UK releases of the very first two best (1970 & 1971) KRAFTWERK albums ...pionners of the acid (Krautrock) progressive underground....
In 1968, the two original members (Florian Schneider and Ralf Hutter, two longstanding friends) formed ORGANISATION. The famous German producer Conny Plank helped them to record their first album "Tone Float". During the year 1970, R. Hutter and F. Schneider dissolved the band to form KRAFTWERK whose name means power station (in German). Klaus Dinger and Andreas Hokman join the band and record an album called "Kraftwerk". Very minimalist; a perfect illustration of a repetitive music made of sound manipulations, punctuated by sputtering flute and electronic altered organ. The atmosphere is slightly "garage", a bit noisy, sometimes ethereal and spacey ("Megahertz"). At this time, the band's reputation remains discreet, despite a certain success.
LP #1... Ruckzuck is probably the most accessible track. As with Neu, a steady pulsating groove drives things forward, while flutes, violin and experimental noise build layers of sound around it. My favorite track would be Stratovarius. The dark brooding pace, heavily treated violin sounds and rhythmical guitar strumming create a cosmic sound that must also have inspired early Tangerine Dream. The opening part before the drums join is magical. A little Kraut masterpiece this is.
More cosmic Kraut follows on Megahertz, with its droning organs and dissonant flutes this could have found its way on Tangerine Dream's Atem. It beats the T Dream though. Von Himmel Hoch is the most chaotic piece, a combination of sound effects, noise, free improvisation and ecstatic drumming. It's hard to describe how they manage to make this all work but it does. For me at least.
This is not your easy-listening Agitation Free type of Kraut, but a band that was a disconcertingly experimental and creative force. An essential Krautrock album and a challenging but rewarding musical experience.

Right before working on the 1971 LP "Kraftwerk" #2, the group was pretty much hacked right in two, with two of them leaving (going on to form the group Neu). Nevertheless, the album succeeds the 1st Kraftwerk and somewhat in the same vein...The second Kraftwerk album trips-out with their guitar / flute / electric organ based formula. Embryonic experimentations of the "space-rock" genre. If you are in touch with Cluster's first chaotic album and Kluster's theatrical psych / "garage" sound you will definitely enjoy listening this album. The thematic material is identical and the music is rather like a loosely drawn-out version of NEU, very orientated to tranced guitar sound manipulations. "Klingklang" is the highlight of this album with a melodic hypnotic adventure flowering with chugging flute, spacy keys, bass and other exotic sounds. Beginning with what sounds like bells and chimes, there is no real melody until 2 minutes in. The tempo picks up 10 minutes in until it seems to fade away, it starts over with a different melody. Percussions and waves of sound effects lead the way now. This stops before 14 1/2 minutes and a different, more uptempo melody takes over to the end. "Atem" features these loud sounds that expand and retract throughout. "Strom" opens with raw, distorted guitar when A beat takes over a minute in and joined by some spacey waves of effects. Then "Spule 4" is an acid splatter of events. "Wellenlange" opens with guitar sounds, bass and other effects at a warped slo-mo phase.The tempo picks up a little after 3 minutes. It gets a little louder 6 minutes in and we have a melody a minute later. Some nice bass in this one. "Harmonika" has no melody as sounds slowly pulse in and out from another dimension....
