PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. ...1973 UK first pressing on the sought after British DAWN label, many UK collectible progressive albums were issued on the label...and one of the best here with "GROWING" by Jonesy, their third album delivering fine works of a psychedelic prog and poprock mixings utilizing string arrangements that are unlimited along with glorious backdrops of mellotrons, all beautiful. Above all, a stout performance that is a masterpiece of the charm...
Following on from their debut album No Alternative and sophomore set Keeping Up, Jonesy released Growing in 1973, their third and final album for the Dawn label. Overseen by top-notch producer Rupert Hine, it was certainly the best sounding set of the batch, and arguably their most adventurous. The almost-12-minute long set closer "Jonesy" is filled with improvisation. It starts off strong enough with the instruments circling around the organ and Mellotron, the electric guitar then storms in, and the piece pushes into R&B laced moves with wah wah guitar. amid abtract solos. The set opener "Can You Get That Together," finds indeed the band getting it together. They tumble through genres, surf, psych, fusion, R&B, and progressive rock with a strong melody and a coursing rhythm that laces the song up tight. "Know Who Your Friends Are" is similarly effective, as the band shifts tempos and moods, sliding from bright prog rock into slower, prettier passages that build and build, finally exploding into driving hard prog where the organ, guitar, and winds duel for supremacy. On "Hard Road" guitarist John Evan Jones goes head to head with Alan Bown, as the band exuberantly winds its way through Latin rhythms within progressive rock context. These musical battles were a new development by the band. This kind of fencing certainly feeds these tracks with excitement.
