Description
This is the mega rare first pressing of this seminal album featuring the late Lou Reed with the original uncensored cover with Eric Emerson’s torso on the back. Later versions were issued with either a large black sticker over the torso or his image was air-brushed out. Original first pressings with the withdrawn cover issued before Eric demanded a fee for the use of his image are very hard to find in any condition. This is the original stereo issue from 1967 on Verve blue label with catalogue number V6-5008. The Matrix / Runout on Side A is V6-5008 SIDE 1 M&S 558 REV and on Side Bis V6-5008 SIDE 2 M&S 559 REV. It is with great regret that I choose to part with this, but sadly I can't justify owning it when I have young children who havemade Christmas lists the length of War & Peace. Hope it goes to a good home.
CONDITION:
COVER - GOOD TO VERY GOOD - The gatefold sleeve is intact and in presentable condition, but it is starting to show its age. The spine is undamaged with the text entirely legible, but it is starting to look a bit worn. The front and rear of the cover are a little grubby and there is a worn mark where the record has been. There is slight fraying to the top of the front cover and a small tear less than 1 cm on the pink banana. The inside of the gatefold is nice apart from a 2 cm split in the centre of the fold. Otherwise overall good condition.
RECORD – VERY GOOD - The vinyl and labels are clean and still have a nice shine, but sadly there are one or two scratches. There is nothing deep or too bearing though, just causing a few clicks or pops here and there. Still a very playable and enjoyable copy. Plays all the way through with no jumps or sticking whatsoever
