“¡PURA SALSA!.. VOL. II”

 (VARIOUS)

MEGARARE and Hard-To-Find original INFOPESA Records very first Stereo press released, made and distributed in Peru in 197? by Industria Fonográfica Peruana S.A. (INFOPESA), catalog number LPS. 8082, with hand etched matrix numbers LPS-8082-1U 1165 in Side A and LPS-8082-2U 1164 in Side B, with orange/black INFOPESA Records labels. Yes, Sirs, ANOTHER FIND from South America!!!

“¡PURA SALSA!.. VOL. II” is the second compilation album released by INFOPESA including the “best Latin salsa” as written in the liner notes of back cover by Johnny Mara. The year this record was released isn’t informed, but it’s a fact it’s from early 70’s. The curious design of the cover shows the pictures of the musicians included in this album but if you see the front cover, the mouth is at the top edge, but if you see the back cover you have to rotate it and the mouth edge will be at the left edge. Other interesting fact is that in cover the album title is “¡PURA SALSA!.. VOL. II – Varios Interpretes” but in labels it’s “PURA SALSA VOL.II – Artistas Varios”. The tracklist in this really great compilation album is:

Side A

1    VAGABUNDO – CORPORACION LATINA

2    LLORARAS – JOHNNY MARA

3    LAMENTO JIBARO – RAPHY LEAVITT

4    LA CANDELA – TIPICA 73

Side B

1    TREMENDO PROBLEMA – ORQUESTA ZODIAC

2    GAN GAN Y GON GON – RICHIE RAY Y BOBBY CRUZ

3    HERIDO – RAPHY LEAVITT

4    BEMBA COLORA – CELIA CRUZ

So, here you have the chance to get and own this interesting compilation album, with a great selection of obscure killer salsa, 8 songs to hear and enjoy from the beginning to the end!!! WOW!!!

The cover was already described and it’s in great G+ or VG- condition (closer to VG- in my opinion), clean and complete, but with severe wear in all edges, more evident in the mouth edge and spine, with creases, rips and tears, with severe damage caused by humidity in front cover and some little seam splits at bottom and top edges, nothing serious, only about 1 inch or less. The record is in strong VG- or VG condition both sides, clean, clear and still glossy, but with many scuffs, hairlines and scratches of all sizes and in all directions, which don’t affect play at all, a nice proof that old records were made to last. Labels on both sides are in great EX or EX+ condition, clean and clear, with only some spindle hole wear and general wear. The sound is the best part of this record, it’s in strong EX- or even EX condition both sides, loud, clear and clean, with a soft background noise and light crackles, more evident in the silent parts between tracks, which don’t really cause major distraction from the great sound these songs keep from the beginning to the end. Overall, sure this record is not for Minty minds or audiophiles, but this is a very nice compilation album with an UNIQUE COVER and UNIQUE TRACKLIST, and a great selection of obscure killer salsa!!! Yes, Sirs, what a FIND!!! Click on the pictures to enlarge and see the labels and cover in detail. WOW!!!

Bid with confidence and don’t wait until the last second because you could lose the chance to get a real collectable record from Chile (South America) in superb condition like this copy is. You know South American records aren’t easy to get in good conditions, so HAPPY BIDDING and don’t let this record to go away… you could never see a so good copy of this record again… if you are lucky enough to see even another copy again…

Thanks for watching and bidding, good luck and best regards from Chile

_____________________________________________

We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

FEEDBACK

We don’t have anything to hide and we know the buyers expect to receive feedback after to pay for the items they win. Most of sellers say to give feedback when buyers leave feedback first. But we know that’s not fair for buyers. So, we leave feedback immediately after to receive the payment, because we understand that’s the part that buyers must receive feedback for. And we expect to receive a positive feedback from buyers who receive the records immediately after they have got the records.
