Rarely seen in this condition nowadays, first Heep album with supreme songcraft!!!! THIS LP IS VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO LOCATE NOW AND SERIOUSLY RARE!!!! THIS LP WAS ONLY PRESSED IN ABSOLUTELY TINY AMOUNTS. AS A RESULT TODAY IT IS VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND IT AS A FIRST PRESS AND IS ONE OF THE RAREST MAJOR PROGRESSIVE LPS EVER!!!! IT VIRTUALLY NEVER TURNS UP FOR SALE !!! THE PICTURES TELL ALL!! I WAS KNOCKED OUT BY THE SHEER QUALITY OF THIS VINYL, EASILY THE BEST VERTIGO SWIRL I HAVE COME ACROSS IN THE LAST TWO YEARS OR SO.
Haunting piece of PROG/PSYCH from the Golden Era!! Uriah Heep made quite a few great albums after this, but in my opinion this stunning masterwork was never equalled. Splendid sound quality and this has barely been played. A very testing track like "Come away Melinda" really brings out the absolute quality of this heavy glossy vinyl, without any background noise. As such this is the ultimate upgrade in a serious prog collection!!!AN AWESOME SOUNDING ALBUM ON ALL FREQUENCIES!! Even in between tracks no background noise, unbelievably rare like this! Please note! Anyone who is familiar with my listings will know that I am highly critical about the audio quality, it is my main concern! THIS PLAYS TRULY AWESOME IN MY OPINION ! THESE EARLY 1ST UK VERTIGO PRESSES PRODUCE THE BEST AUDIO POSSIBLE!!! This audio plays near perfect on my high end system! Stunning separation and superb reproduction of all highs!!
I have played this twice in FULL> The replay is ASTOUNDING!!! There are not any jumps or skips. There is no background noise at all!! Very remarkable for this vinyl!!! In my opinion the earliest Vertigo and Island Presses are the very best money can buy!! I played this on my Technics turntable with a Linn cartridge and through my very revealing B&W three way speakers!!!
Vinyl: NM !!! Some might even say M-. This vinyl has NO flaws at all. This has been looked after and probably only ever had a couple of spins. Of course, NO skips, NO jumps and NO clicks. Even under a strong angled light this holds up without any hairlines, only some hardly visibl retraction paper scuffs. Totally clean sound without any disturbing background noise. Listening to "Dreammare" at the moment, it is just stunning and beats any CD re-issue handsdown. This is TOP NOTCH!!!
Gatefold Sleeve: EX+. Stunning beautiful laminated gatefold sleeve. One of the best I have ever seen of this album. Only tiny laminate "mini" creases nearer the spine. NO writing, NO tears, NO marks. perfectly straight 100% legible spine. Beautiful straight edges and a crisp opning.
Inner: This has the original Swirl inner with polylining with the CORRECT DATESTAMP!!! The inner is in EX condition without seamsplits or tears. NO writing, NO marks.
