UK HMV 2 LP FURTWANGLER Beethoven 9th Symphony ALP 1286
HMV 2 LP Set FURTWANGLER Beethoven 9th - Choral Symphony ALP 1286/7
This is a vintage 33 rpm 2 LP set issued on the British "His Master's Voice" label, catalog numbers ALP 1286 and ALP 1287. The set features a performance of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, aka "The Choral Symphony", by the Orchestra and Chorus of the 1951 Bayreuth Festival under the direction of legendary conductor Wilhelm Furtwangler. The vinyl is visually in NM- (near mint minus) condition with very slight surface scuffing, mostly visible on side one. I've cleaned and listened to the records and there is some background hiss, crackle and pop. I used the Disc Doctor's Miracle Record Cleaner to clean the records and the supplier states that it takes 3 to 4 playings before background noise caused by dirt or accumulated oils diminishes or disappears. Although I cannot guarantee a perfect result, I've found this in the past to be the case. The covers are in VG+ condition with minor edge wear, a tiny seam tear, some ring wear and a bit of plastic delamination on the second disc. Despite the above, this is really quite an excellent copy of this seminal recording. This is considered to be one of the greatest recordings of Beethoven's Ninth - really a superb performance….please click on any photo in order to enlarge. ….. and please check my other auctions for vintage German and Swiss pressings, including DGG sealed records…….reasonable reserve on this 2 lp set….

I am now shipping to my US clients through USPS services. I am located in Canada but I now have a carrier service to bring my parcels directly across the border on Thursdays to be shipped out of the USPS postal outlet in Champlain, N.Y. In addition to the actual shipping cost, I do charge a $3.00 handling fee to cover the cost of this service and I do require insurance. Please note that even with the handling fee that it is less expensive and is a quicker service than using Canada Post.
PLEASE NOTE: For items which sell over $200.00, I must ship to my U.S. clients using Canada Post, this is due to customs regulations.
To my Canadian clients, I use Canada Post for shipping, as I am based in Canada.
To my International clients I can ship by either Canada Post or by USPS (in order to use USPS for intl. clients - the items must sell for under $200.00) .
