Description

First of a new batch of highly sought after jazz and blues albums I will be listing, this 10-inch release on the sought after Tempo label gives Sandy Brown's Jazz Band and Dave Carey's Jazz Band a side each and was recorded at the Royal Festival Hall, London, on 18 February 1956.

Vinyl and sleeve are at least VG+. Sleeve front is close to excellent, while the back has a small tear at the opening edge (pictured) and a 3cm bit of damage to the spine.

Vinyl has a few hairlines but no feelable scratches. Plays well with occasional surface noise and a pop or two. There is a sticker on the Side 2 label, but otherwise the labels are excellent.

Dave Carey's Jazz Band comprises Johnny Codd (trumpet), Tony Milliner (trombone), Tony Gibbons (clarinet), Pat Hawes (piano), Bob Mack (guitar), Eric Starr (bass) and Dave Carey (drums), on Side 1 performing I'M A LITTLE BLACKBIRD and SPECIAL DELIVERY STOMP.

Sandy Brown's Jazz Band is made up of Al Fairweather (trumpet), SAndy Brown (clarinet), Alan Thomas (piano), Mo Umansky (banjo), Brian Parker (bass) and Graham Burbage (drums) performing (on Side 2) BLACK SIX BLUES, BLUES STAMPEDE and FIFTY-FIFTY BLUES.

VERY Collectable album – this doesn't appear to be listed on Discogs at all, and I can only find online evidence of one copy being sold in the last 10 years! You'll probably never see another ...
