Description

Tim Coster- Rowboat/Blackberry LATHE CUT 7” (CMR 12)

Very limited lathe cut 7" from New Zealand sound artist Tim Coster on the CMR imprint (Richard Francis of Eso Steel's label).

Coster is also a member of Plain along with Richard Francis (Eso Steel, With Throats As Fine As Needles, Birchville Cat Motel's Campbell Kneale's one time collaborator in Small Blue Torch), Rosy Parlane (Thela and Parmentier), Mark Sadgrove (MHFS), sound artist Clinton Watkins and Paul Winstanley (Audible 3)

As with all CMR releases in this series (releases from The Dead C's Bruce Russell, Sam Hamilton, Sci-Hi, Hometown Fielding, Pumice and Eye), this one is beautifully packaged in a deep blue card stock with a brown imprinted inner sleeve.

thebigcity says of Tim Coster :
Hailing from Auckland… Coster is a sound artist and improviser involved in a number of different projects: Plains, his record label Claudia, and solo practice recording works for CD, sound installation and performance. Working primarily with field recordings and various instruments Coster concentrates on short segments of recorded sound which he dissects, processes and loops. Over these he adds granular tones, field hums and live crackles creating delicate and peaceable sound works - CMR

Sonic Museum says of Tim Coster :
Tim Coster graduated with a Bachelor of Visual Arts (sculpture) from the Auckland University of Technology in 2002, and has since worked as a sound artist, mainly with audio releases and live performances. Auckland-based Coster uses field recordings and other gathered musical sounds, processed by computer and digital/analogue looping devices, to create shifting delicate sound works. Coster has collaborated with various artists and performed and exhibited at many festivals and galleries. He is currently working with Currer Bells, Cathedrals and Silent Spring. Coster also curates the CLaudia label, whose first full CD release was Compact Listen, a 2007 compilation featuring New Zealand artists curated for the High Street Project gallery.

7" is MINT- (note that lathe cut discs have some surface noise from the nature of the King lathe cutting process)/Cover is MINT (the wrinkly inner sleeve is the result of silk screening the inner sleeve and is how this record was packaged...I have stored the record in a separate white sleeve).
