Description
Here is the fairly hard to find 1964 Serenus SEP 2005 and the harder to find 1965 SEP 2006 jazz albums, both with artwork / photography from Wallowitch’s childhood friend, Andy Warhol. This is classic Warhol with his photo booth cropped pictures that caught the ‘Espirit’ of the time and begin to show Warhol’s penchant for experimental photography. Warhol did many album covers as an artist but he was deeply and personally connected to the Wallowitch cover project. Warhol was a close associate of Wallowitch’s esteemed photographer brother Edward Wallowitch. It is rumored that John and Andy were more than just friends.
The records both have scuffs and light scratches. Both are untested. Sleeves have some ringwear and edgewear. Both are quite good condition for their age.
SEP 2005 is signed / inscribed on the rear “Dear Carol / To an old acquaintance and hopefully/ a new friend. / With Musical Love, John Wallowitch”. SEP 2006 is signed / inscribed on the rear “Dear Carol - Don’t believe/ everything you read - / Love, John Wallowitch”.
These records, released a year apart, are cleverly designed so that when put together are mirror opposites and make a gatefold cover.
