Description
This is a Rare Andy Warhol Art cover from 1952. THE NATION'S NIGHTMARE. This record is recorded from a 1951 CBS radio documentary that was part of a series . Side One - Traffic in Narcotics, and Side 2- Crime On The Waterfront.
Andy Warhol won his first notable award for this artwork- The Art Directors Club Award in 1952. This was the start of many wonderful album covers he created over his lifetime and one of many I own, and will be auctioning off over the next year as I find them on my shelf.
Not only is this a rare art album cover, that was #4 in Andy Warhol : The Record Covers from 1949-1987 book. But, the broadcast is quite entertaining with real life interviews with drug addicts and thugs.
The Jacket shows very well with no seam tears present. There is lower seam wear and title edge wear. Upper left corner and lower right corner show the most wear from the front. There is wear present on two remaining corners. There is two small red pen marks on the upper right visible in the photos. There is a slight creasing in upper right as well. Some very light, barely visible scuffing is present on front. Rear of jacket shows some age with discoloration and shelf wear. Upper right corner and lower left is creased on rear a little. Lower right corner shows some wear. Some creasing visible in photos on upper left and lower right of rear cover. Not so easy to see in real life.
The inner sleeve is generic white anti static. not original....
Vinyl shows glossy with light marks and a few marks that create an audible tick. There are no skips or hops on this record. On Side one, there are eight pops or ticks within about a 10 second span. Then all plays well with an occasional background noise. Side Two- Is comparable to side 1 and has probably four pops and some light crackle at times. There is in the first minutes of side 2, an audible sound that is a low noise that occurs in one spot. I cannot see what it is . But, believe to be from manufacturing. The Album was very enjoyable to listen too.
