This is a factory sealed copy of It’s Hard by The Who. This is a first pressing still sealed from 1982.
This album was purchased at a New England record shop that closed in late 1984. Price sticker shows it was last offered for sale at the record store in September of 1982. It has been stored indoors and kept upright since 1982.
It's Hard was released on Warner Bros. Records. It is the tenth album from rock band The Who.
This is the last Who album to feature bassist John Entwistle and drummer Kenney Jones (formerly of Small Faces). It was also the Who last album to be released on Warner Bros. Records in the USA. It peaked at No. 8 on the US Billboard Pop Albums chart. It’s Hard achieved gold status by the RIAA in the US in November ’82. This was the Who’s final album for 24 years until 2006 with Endless Wire.
The cover photo features a boy playing Atari Space Duel and was meant to be a contemporary reference to “Pinball Wizard” from Tommy. The first track on the album is “Athena” and was also the radio hit. Singer Roger Daltrey felt the album “should never have been released”. The Who felt pressured to release an album by the record company and then tour for it. Songwriter and guitarist Pete Townshend felt It’s Hard was made by a band “who were very unsure about whether or not they wanted to be making a record”.
This is an interesting piece of rock history for a collector. And way cool to know it has been sealed for over 40 years!
Condition: The shrink is in great shape overall with some expected wear in the corners (see photos). Overall it's holding together very well. Features the original sticker from the record shop.
The cover has some slight wear on the corners due to it being moved on the shelf (see photos). The cover is fairly straight with no noticeable bends (see photos). Excellent condition overall.
The vinyl is brand new old stock and never been opened.
