Famously produced without the use of computers The White Stripes' true breakout masterpiece puts a new spin on vintage. Chances are good we don’t have to tell you, but Elephant was miraculously made in just two weeks at a London studio outfitted with an eight-track tape machine and recording gear that predates the Beatles. While a loose concept album in theme, there’s no missing the back to basics sound in its physical creation that makes it perfect for the raw fullness of vinyl.
Elephant won the 2004 Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album. In addition to the smash hit Seven Nation Army, which won for Best Rock Song, the group's fourth release and first for a major label is highlighted by the punked-out blues riffs of Black Math, the high-pitched Queen-like squall of There's No Home For You Her, and the spirited interpretation of Burt Bacharach's I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself.
