I somewhat reluctantly will be listing some vinyl records that I got in a trade recently, no idea why. Record collectors are not my favorite people in the world (and I'm one myself!) since I worked very long hours for a dozen years (or was it a baker's dozen?) at a couple record shops a lifetime or two ago, yup, I was the 40 year old man who flirted with the underaged girls and shot dirty looks at their awful boyfriends who I secretly really wanted to be even if they listened to Korn & Blink 182 & I listened to The Pretty Things & The Flamin' Groovies and would let everyone know about my superior taste in music because that's all I had going for me .Not much has change as I near retirement, I'm still looking forward to death & I still have an axe to grind that I borrowed from TAD. Self hatred much? Who cares, man!

Anyways if you are looking for a pretty copy of this seminal album look elsewhere. This album is VG/VG on a good day and if I was a better man I would likely list it as GD/VG but am not so pay attention and ask questions before you bid as I offer NO RETURNS.

• THE GOOD:

1.) It plays all way through.

2.) The surface noise is not deafening or maybe I'm going deaf & it sounds worse than I hear/think.

3.) It only skips once during SUNDAY MORNING (the song not the time of day or the day, for that matter) but keeps playing & if you have had a couple drinks and are necking with a pretty girl you will likely not even notice. 

4.) No seam spilt, fairly clean covers and gatefold, comes with original inner sleeve (whoopty do! Does anyone buy an album because of the inner sleeve that just pushes other Verve artists down your throat?) and, uh, it sounds pretty great when the feedback is hitting like a crack head hitting himself at a downtown near you.

5.) Did I mention it plays all the way through (?) man I had my fingers crossed as it played!

• THE BAD:

1.) Affordable enough that you don't have to talk your hot girlfriend into starting an OF. That's bad, right? All that wasted beauty. 

2.) Depending on how anal you are that tiny skip at the beginning of SIDE A will eat at you for years to come!

3.) You might never be successful enough in life to ever upgrade and this is IT the copy you will die with.


So, what more gibberish can I say? Still probably the greatest debut album of all time and in my less than humble opinion the greatest gift Andy Warhol ever give the world or is that, Eddie? I guess I feel better now about grading it VG/VG after re-reading Goldmine's grading guide but I can't imagine someone playing & saying, wow that sounds VERY GOOD (why isn't OK a grade?) but many you can convince people that the surface noises gives it character or something AND honestly, I enjoyed listening to it on vinyl for the first time in many years as these days I prefer CDs over vinyl, no having to turn the record over as I stumble into yet another black out is a beautiful thing in an ugly world.

Oh, yeah, uh huh... if you clean the record (I would have but since I rarely play my records these days, I don't have one) it might even play better! I doubt that the skip will go away but since I feel no scratches deep enough to feel on my bare skin, maybe but honestly not likely so bid accordingly.

Once I get enough will power I'll list the other crap I got, I mean, holy grails but if you want to look at all the other fine stuff that I'm selling, please do, it supports whatever bad habits I have left after life has repeatedly given it to me up where no sun has shined, well, ever, that lucky old sun, a pretty girl on OF I'm not since I was born too early and in the wrong body, curse you all men, imagine how powerful it must be to be able to make a good living selling pix of your starfish? Not even Iggy has that kind of raw power!
