Description
JACKIE DAY - ' BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE / WITHOUT A LOVE ' (1966), Sue Records/Island Records (WI-4040) 1967.
Very rare 1967 UK issue on Sue Records of the northern soul 45, originally released in the USA on Kent Records in 1966.
The B side is a slower soul number, but of course the A side is a classic northern soul dance floor filler that most will be buying this record for.
CONDITION:
Overall, graded as V.G. condition. Or more specifically, Side A is V.G.+ and Side B is V.G.-.
The A side is visually clean, but for the very faintest of cosmetic imperfections. It plays strongly with just some faint surface noise on the run-in and the occasional soft click as it plays throughout. The label is also pretty clean. Not perfect, but still a great playing copy in good enough condition to play in DJ sets, etc.
The B side is visually in similar condition, but for some surface scuffing in a small area on the last quarter of the playing surface (see photos for this) which doesn't look great, but actually does not sound on playback. However, as this side plays out there are quite a lot of clicks and crackles throughout. They do not correspond to any visual marks and may well be in the pressing. Regardless, they are there. The label also has a couple of small stains on it (again, see photos).
Further to these written gradings, I have audio files which I can provide to bidders on request. As with any rare/valuable record in less than mint condition, I strongly urge bidders to take these and listen carefully before placing max bids. Audio files will always provide a better picture than written text.
