CONDITION:
Sleeve: Almost Mint- w/ just a 1/2" bottom seam split at the bottom right corner, a touch of corner wear, a touch of light wear at the bottom of the spine, a touch of wear on the back cover which also has a small name stamp. The front cover is gorgeous w/ shiny bright lamination. The spine is also very nice w/ all graphics sharp & readable.
Record: Retains high original gloss w/ light surface scuffs and some tiny light scratches on Side A, Track 4. Side A plays almost Mint- w/ some light background surface noise except for the scratches on Track 4 which cause random ticks throughout the track. Side B plays almost Mint- w/ some light background surface noise. Great sound presence! / VPI cleaned.
COMMENTS: Very nice original deep groove 447 W. 50th St. NYC label pressing of this classic Moondog LP. The opening track "Up Broadway" is Moondog's impressions of Birdland & The Paladium and the incredible music sure sounds like it could be The Sun Ra Orchestra to my ears. The rest of the music is highly percussive and orchestral in its sweep and approach, though utilizing only a small number of players, primarily Moondog himself. At the time of these recordings he was familiar sight in Manhattan, performing as a street musician.
