Description
The experience of buying records on Ebay is ruined if, when they arrive, you discover that they are either not in the condition stated or have been damaged in the post! For this reason I describe all my items in detail, and only post using strong sturdy packaging in a 'box' mailer with the record outside the sleeve to avoid seam-splitting. They are also from a non-smoking and pet-free home.
I accept returns and offer a full refund if you are not happy with your purchase.
The Smiths - 'Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now' White Label 7" With Press Sheet - 1984
Catalogue no. RT 156 - Rough Trade
The early UK Smiths single were promoted by Rough Trade using 7" 'white label' test pressings rather than the more common 12" white label pressings which were used for later releases (generally, 'Shakespeare's Sister' onwards). These 7" white label pressings are, as would be expected, now highly sought-after and collectable. The one offered for auction here was issued to radio stations in 1984 to promote 'Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now' and is now extremely scarce. This particular copy is particularly desirable in that it is accompanied by the original press sheet which was issued with some of the white label 7"s which were sent out. This press sheet, which is the original and not a photocopy, has a reproduction of the sleeve artwork on one side (see photos) and details of the release of the 'Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now' single, along with details of upcoming live dates, on the other. The white labels of the 7" have faint impressions of the text of the press release on them, due to having had the folded press sheet alongside over many years. Copies of this white label 7" which have the original press sheet are now incredibly rare, hardly ever appearing for sale, and seem certain to continue appreciating in value. The vinyl and labels are in strong excellent condition, having been played several times but extremely well looked-after; the vinyl remains glossy and has only superficial 'hairline' surface marks in a few places which can be seen if held to the light. The white labels have faint impressions of the text from the press release on them, which have built up over time having been next to the folded sheet inside the outer sleeve over the years. The outer sleeve is the plain black thin die-cut sleeve in which the record would have been sent out, and is also in strong excellent condition with no rips or tears. Finally, the scarce press release is also in strong excellent condition, with no writing, tears or other signs of damage. It has only very light signs of handling and has been folded neatly from its original pairing with the record; its appearance is in keeping with its age, but it has clearly been preserved very well indeed. Please see the accompanying photos for more detail; note that the 'Ebay ID' lettering is just on the pictures and not on the item itself.
All my auctions start at 1P and have NO RESERVE. They are all 100% genuine, original versions. Some are in mint/new condition and some are used; all will go to the highest bidder. I offer a money-back guarantee if anything is described incorrectly. Postage and Packing is 2.80 in the UK for untracked and uninsured standard postage, this is subsidised by myself and the actual costs to me will usually be higher. Please do consider paying the extra 70p for tracked postage since there is nothing that can be done to find out what happened if the parcel is lost when standard postage is chosen. Shipping costs are greater for overseas buyers, but still subsidised and very good value; please check prices by using the options above or feel free to ask. Extra items are sent at no extra postage charge to the buyer (see below). I always take great care to package items well with strong mailing materials.See my other auctions for related rare items here. If multiple auctions are won at the same time (within a week), I will charge only the postage cost for the heaviest item and pay the remainder myself. This is the case wherever you live. If you are planning to bid, but cannot be around at the end of the auction, I have found this free site to be useful; note that I am not affiliated with the site in any way!
