The Smiths “Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now" 1984 UK 7" White label test pressing + Promo postcard (free shipping / no tariffs)
This is an extremely rare 7" white label test pressing of The Smiths' "Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now". The title is a tongue in cheek word play on the Sandie Shaw song "Heaven Knows I'm Missing Him Now". The music was written by Johnny Marr on Jan 2nd 1984 in his room at the Algonquin Hotel, New York, on his famous cherry-red Gibson ES-355. The guitar was purchased that same day as a gift from Seymour Stein (co-founder of Sire records) in appreciation for The Smiths signing to the American label. The song later became the band's first single to reach the top 10 in the U.K charts.
The test pressing has handwritten details of the release on the A-side (i.e., title, catalogue number, and band name), presumably applied by Scott Piering, who was The Smiths' publicist at the time.
