Description
Really rare 1972 German Firstpress of SAHB's first album. Released with catalogue number 6360081 in a unipack sleeve: "From Phonogram - the best sounds around". Comes on the legendary Vertigo Spiral label soon to be replaced by the Spaceship design. In fact "Framed" is one of the last albums to be released with Vertigo Spiral, making it extra tricky to find. By 1973 it was already released with the new label and most copies you find have the Spaceship. Matrix Numbers - all stamped:
Side A: "10 AA 6360081 1Y//2 320" and a "B" lying on it's side over a "1"
Side B: "10 AA 6360081 2Y 320 1" and what looks like a "V" lying on it's side with a small "1" beneath it
Condition: The vinyl has some light scratches, some slight hairlines, looks Very Good+, still shiny and deep black. I've played it all the way through and it plays with a fantastic powerful sound, really robust and involving. Nothing can touch these vintage Vertigos, that's for sure.
There is OCCASIONAL surface noise, never overpowering the music, not constant, most noticeable in "I Just Want To Make Love To You": Very Good+ to Very Good++. A fantastic player albeit not stone Mint. This record definitely would benefit from a deep, professional cleaning.
The labels: Nice and clean. No spindle marks, no writing.
The cover: One of the more delicate affairs of it's era, I've never seen a truly NM example. It's a unipack (technically a gatefold where the record is inserted from the inside), very thin and prone to ringwear. This copy is no exception, some wear, a lot of edgewear, the spine isn't readable anymore, there are stains that look like coffee but there is not a single trace of waterdamage. So maybe somebody placed a coffee mug on while listening to it. No seamsplit, no writing, yet I can't grade it better than Very Good.
SUMMARY: Collectable copy of a rare and fantastic album. If you're not a Mint collector this copy should make you very happy, I've tried to be strict with my grading.
