Astonishingly rare unboxed Decca 'solid-centre' vinyl 7" single for The Rolling Stones' "Get Off Of My Cloud."
Despite The Rolling Stones being one of the most documented groups around (certainly as far as their vinyl is concerned) I could not, to my suprise, find any information pertaining to any solid-centre variations of their 1960s 'blue' Decca singles that we are so used to seeing.
I aquired this some time ago from the same person who I also recieved a solid centre copy of The Beatles' "I Feel Fine," which (after initially starting the bidding at £40) I sold recently in excess of £500. That copy had its rare solid centre as part of some sort of Pye Contract, and was only pressed in a handful of copies. I am wondering if this Rolling Stones single, with being from the same source and also having a seemingly unique solid centre, has something similar to do with this? I am not sure at all, but hopefully there are some knowledgable collectors of The Rolling Stones out there who may know exactly what this is.
I have exhausted both Discogs and eBay in attempting to find another copy with a solid centre, but I have found nothing. Considering The Stones sold singles in the millions, it seems clear to me that this is something that is genuinely rare - and thus potentially of interest to all of The Rolling Stones completists out there. Im not sure where else you could find this? There are of course some Stones singles on Decca that have solid centres, but those are clearly (and well-documented as) later releases and have quite a few differences to this one offered here, which looks to be an original early/mid 60s press.
The vinyl grades around the 'G' mark only (maybe G+ for easy going collectors). There are quite a few wispy marks and some more feelable marks/scuffs in places. I have tried to capture the general condition in the photos - so please study them closely. It does play through, albeit with some considerable surface noise/crackle/static/background noise. Audio therefore does play around its expected grade (i.e. 'G'). Please do not hold high expectations from the audio quality. However, I suspect that collectors would intend for this to be something that completes a collection, rather than something thats necessarily 'played'.
I have also tried to take photos of the matrixes and mother stampers for your reference, so please have a good look at those too.
Again, this might be the only time you see one of these, so I hope it will at least be of interest to collectors.
