Description
The Clash's 'Sandinista' 3 x vinyl LP album and it is HAND-SIGNED on the rear cover by the late, great Joe Strummer (please see images).
He has simply signed it 'Joe Strummer' in blue biro in the middle of the rear cover.
It is CBS FMLN2 and has the stickered sleeve.
The package includes the 'Armagideon Times No 3' insert with the lyrics , which is in very good condition.
Also included is and 2 x promotional booklets simple marked 'The Clash' and just have selections of press cuttings and reviews. Each one is 24 pages and there are no other details printed at all - just the press cuttings. I assume this is a CBS promotion as the top left-hand corner of the sleeve is stamped 'Property of CBS - Demonstration Only - Not For Sale'. (Please see images).
The three vinyl LPs are all played, but appear to be in good condition for their age. I cannot see any marks or scratches. The vinyls are marked FSLN 1 A5/B6, then C4/D6 and finally E6/F2.
Please note that I am not a dealer or a record collector. The items I am selling are all from the extensive collection of my late brother.
He was a great music and radio enthusiast, working for both BBC and commercial radio stations in the East Midlands from 1980 until 2013 presenting various music shows, mostly folk and rock.
Most of this time he was the producer and presenter of the nightly rock programme on Radio Trent in Nottingham (which, from 1984 was also broadcast on Leicester Sound and the in Derby from 1988).
During this period he interviewed many bands and artists in Nottingham, Derby and Leicester and usually had them sign copies of the albums they were promoting at the time. He was also sent many promotional, DJ-only and white-label pressings direct from the record companies.
I know he interviewed Joe Strummer just before a gig at Leicester DeMontford Hall in the early 80's and this is when the album would have been signed.
Sadly my brother passed away in November 2013, so I am slowly disposing of his extensive record collection. He had no family of his own, so according to his wishes we have opened a trust account to help his nephew and two nieces through university, and the proceeds from these sales will be paid into that account.
Over the last year I have already listed similar items such as original signed albums by artists ranging from The Ramones to Bryan Ferry and Sandy Denny, plus some rarities and DJ-only promotional copies. There are still many more for me to get through, so I will regularly be listing new items.
All vinyl will be sent in special secure mailers with stiffeners.
I've tried to describe and photograph the item as best I can, please message me with any other questions.
Thank you.
