Description

An original 1st stereo press of BTBs on the UK Decca label. Matrix 5k/5k. Stampers 1B/1B - the very 1st stamper under the Buckingham sequence. The label design is perfectly consistent with very 1st press and MUST included a Decca deep groove. And note how the stereo 1st press is a difficult copy to bag - the stereo format was yet to get a real foothold in the market until a couple of years later. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original James Upton stereo cover. Also included is the original Decca inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex-/Vg+) In very nice condition and has only seen light to moderate use. Under close inspection there are a few light marks per side - nothing heavy or significant. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly a NEAR EXCELLENT level of playback with a couple of deviations. Intros and inbetweens are nice and quiet and the audio comes across with great clarity. By and large a very decent rendition which delivers some great audio - just falling short of the given grading in a couple of spots. Expect a few crackles in a couple of tracks per side - nothing invasive just the typical lower level stuff. The only deviations are in 'All Sold Out'. 'Back Street' and 'Obsession' a couple of marks are causing a few ticks and crackles. These tracks still play fine, but they're not going to be quite up to the standard of the rest of the LP. Overall a great rendition from this very collectable genuine stereo 1st.
Inner (VG) Intact, but quite aged.
Cover (Vg+) Supremely difficult to find in anything approaching half decent condition. Most copies will surface looking wrecked, but this example is bucking the trend and looks very decent indeed. A really smart and shiny looking front cover with a couple of thumbnail creases over toward the opening, and a couple of edge stress creases down in the bottom left corner. The rear seems to have avoided the worst of the usual ageing process - and that's what's hardest to find. There's one or two grubby patches, a couple of foxing marks and what looks like a light crayon mark. But this example is looking a lot better than most that surface. Note on the rear the edge of the laminate running down the spine area is not parallel with the spine - this is a manufacturing error from the time of printing. The spine is pretty much entirely intact with all text legible - much better than what usually surfaces. Overall the cover still retains excellent rigidity. A very nice and original 1st stereo press.
