An original Mono 1st Press of Beggars on the UK Decca label from 1968. Matrix 4A/3B. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original Garrod & Lofthouse 'Mono' cover. Also included is the original Decca inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Vg+/Ex-) Read In Full! Ok, so lets cut to the chase - this copy actually plays very well, but there is a serious issue in the 1st minute of 'Sympathy'. The Lp overall seems to have only seen relatively light use, but here's the 'BUT'. The first minute of Track 1 [Sympathy FTD - 6:07] is a total write-off. There are radial marks which are feelable to the touch. These marks are significant and render the 1st minute in-audible with interference and jumps. My recommendation to any prospective buyer is to write-off/ignore that 1st section and start the needle 1 minute into the record. And the upside, here, is that the remaining 5 minutes of SFTD &, in fact, the remainder of the record play back very nice mostly at a standard of NEAR EXCELLENT. It is fully play tested and I could only pick out one other negligible jump briefly in track 2. Other than that playback was both enjoyable and impressive with no more than minor interference. So, the question for the buyer is can you live with that 1st minute problem in order to snag a mono 1st at a very agreeable price. Only purchase this item on the full understanding of this issue.
Cover (Vg+) In very nice condition with only one vaguely noticeable issue. Lovely shiny, and mostly white, front and back> But please note there is vertical line of fading right down the middle of the front. The interior is in excellent condition - no issues at all. Edge wear is reasonably light. There's a bit on the spine, but most of the text is still legible. Overall the cover still retain most of the original rigidity.
Inner (Ex) Very little ageing and no splits.
