Description

An original 1st A&A on French Lozenge label. Good thing about the French copies - the covers were date coded. This particular copy would have been available for purchase in FEBRUARY 1965. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original flipback cover - date coded 02/1965. We also have the original Decca DISQUE tracing paper inner. And boy were they flimsy - god knows who thought this was appropriate for a heavy-set 60's Lp! So, we're 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) In lovely condition and has only seen light careful use. I can only make out a couple of very light marks per side - nothing heavy or troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with one very slight deviation. Very quiet intros and inbetweens and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. Really nice authority and energy coming off this pressing. Hardly any background - a very nice clean rendition. Expect nothing more than a few minor crackles in a couple of isolated moments per side. I did detect a couple of minor ticks midway through 'South Michigan' - absolutely no big deal. A super rendition from this early 1st from the Stones. Highly recommended.
Cover (Vg+) VERY VERY notorious for surfacing in appalling condition. They were made from extremley flimsy paper. Take a look on line - by now most will be absolutely wrecked. And that's why a decent copy, like this one, is not so easy to track down. Very flat and uncreased front - it may well be the best copy from the front I've seen. No sign of laminate creasing - which is unusual. The edges exhibit far far less wear than you tend to find on these original copies - just a one inch patch at the bottom middle seam [no wear-through]. The back has aged lightly - but it is clean and tidy with little wear. To be honest - this is better than most examples you'll witness. All flipbacks perfectly intact and secure. Even the spine is WAY better than what you usually find. One miniscule wear patch renders one 'L' in 'Rolling' illegible. Otherwise - superb! Very very hard to find in anything approaching this kind of condition.
Inner (Vg) The grading seems harsh. But it's unlikely ANY example will have survived above a true VG. Split down one side - fully taped up. A corner missing and a one inch bottom edge split. But to be fair - not too bad compared with some. We will not ship the LP in this innner!!!
