Offered here is an authentic 1966 Fenton Records 45 by The Quests, pairing Scream Loud with Psychic. Few regional garage records are as mythic in collector circles — this title has been celebrated in books, comps, and auction houses as a defining example of raw midwestern teen-garage. Pressed in extremely limited quantities on the legendary Fenton label, originals almost never surface outside elite collections.
This copy comes directly from the private collection of a Detroit disc jockey, who spun it during the peak of the 1960s teen-club scene. The disc carries unmistakable signs of professional provenance: taped label edges to guard against cue burn, handwritten etchings of dates and notes in the deadwax (including “1966” and personal marks), and surface wear consistent with authentic broadcast use. Rather than flaws, these features root this copy firmly in its historical moment — a disc that literally delivered garage-rock electricity to first-time listeners when it was new.
Condition: VG. Labels show aging, tape marks, and DJ annotations; vinyl has visible scuffs and light scratches but plays through with no skips. Sound is strong and retains the gritty punch these Fenton sides are prized for. A true working copy with museum-quality provenance.
