Description

An original very 1st press of Parachute on the UK Harvest label. Matrix A2/B2. Stampers "1G/1G" - under the EMI system this copy was pressed from the 1st ever stamper. How's that for provenance? The labels are very 1st iteration and show 'Gramophone' in the perimeter text and there's NO Emi logo exhibiting. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original gatefold cover with the exterior laminated. Also included is the original Harvest inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex+) Wow, you hope every slab of vinyl would look this sweet....and, unbelievably, this is the 1G copy! Under close inspection I could only make out a couple of very superficial marks... the surfaces are mirror-like! A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback with one slight deviation. Intros and inbetweens are pretty much silent and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. Ok, so if you're on the lookout for a top-level copy of "Parachutes"..Hang-yer-boots-up..!.. You just found it. The combination of a near-master copy and super preservation levels makes for stellar reproduction. The audio is dream-like and has that aura of 'being in the studio'. Interference is borderline non-existent. Even in those low-key sequences this copy delivers accurate delicate clean audio the whole way through. All I could detect were a couple of crackles in a couple of isolated moments per side. The only vague deviation is the into to Parachute. Just a few static crackles in the intro. Very minor indeed and brief, most certainly not remotely close to being invasive. This really is one sweeeeet player!
Cover (Ex/Ex+) Again, someone's really looked after this LP - it's a stunner. Perfectly clean, flat, and uncreased front. If I were to be extremely picky I'd mention that the 2mm at the bottom edge isn't covered by laminate and, as a result, exhibits some very minor wear. The rear is equally good - or should I say perfect? The interior really is perfect. Zero signs of wear or creasing and the surfaces are smooth to touch...i.e. no chance of ageing at all. Edge wear is extremely slight and the openings still sharp. The spine is 100% intact. Thanks, in part to the heavy card construction, the LP retains perfect rigidity.
