Description

An original and very 1st press of PRETTY THINGS on UK Fontana. Matrix 1/1. Labels mention 'Recoding 1st published 1965'. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original Mono cover with exposed flipbacks. We also have the original inner sleeve from the time too. The DEBUT was released in March 1965. The inner sleeve is date code to Jan 1965 [015] - absolutely bag on for an early 1st press. So, we're 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) Wow - an absolute beaut...lovely mirror like surfaces. Records from 1965 have no right to look this darn good after 55 years! Under close inspection I can only make out a couple of very light marks - absolute nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are lovely and quiet and the audio comes across with superb clarity. I would imagine it is nigh on impossible to find this vintage looking or sounding anywhere near this good. Power and energy of those original cuts - you can tell it's close on to the original masters. Plays clean throughout - you can hear right into the mix. No background at all - ALL the percussive elements and tappings are ALL there for you to witness crystal-clear. An absolute corker. Whack it right up to 11 - and it is scintillating. Never heard one as good as this... an absolute show-stopper of a copy. Nothing worse than a couple of crackles in a couple of isolated moments per side! Highly recommended.
Cover (Ex) And if the vinyl wasn't enough to get you excited what about the cover! Not seen one this well preserved before. The front almost looks like a new cover - which not bad at all for 55 years of age. Perfectly flat with no creasing or laminate lift. What's also impressive is the colour preservation - lovely deep blacks..with no sign of light fade. The rear is pretty darn impressive too. It has avoided the usual ageing process signs. A touch of discolouration on the flipbacks - but very little sign of handling or ageing on the white surface. This is way better than what typically surfaces. All flipbacks are secure and fully intact. Very little wear observable and the openings are still sharp. The spine is 100% intact with just light ageing. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Vg+) Lightly aged. Bad present. No splits.
