The Molls: White Stains b/w Is Chesty Dead?
7" 45rpm. Skids Records. TAR-0102. 1979
Vinyl and cover (great sci-fi/horror drawing on front, cover in card-stock) both in excellent condition. Cover beginning to come unglued.
Early Boston punk/art band, featuring an electric bassoon and Peter Prescott (his next band was Mission of Burma) on drums. King Krimson hurls itself at Pere Ubu and everyone comes out for the worse! "Black Sheets, White Stains" is a truly terrifying and great sonic slab. They did a few shows with The Moving Parts at Cantone's. After Prescott and the bassoonist left, the rest of the lads moved on to Someone and the Somebodies, co-winning the Boston Rumble, and also Auto 66, continuing their odd meld of art and rock. Tris Lozaw also became a music critic in the Boston area. The B-side was about the well-endowed porn star Chesty Morgan.
Rob Davis: lead guitar, ARP 2600, vocals
Tristram Lozaw: bass, inside-out guitars, vocals
Billy Lostland: electric bassoon, vocals
Jon Coe: keyboard, vocals
Peter Prescott: drums
Mollasian Chorus: barroom Chants.
Side A: White Stains
Side B: Is Chesty Dead?
