Description
PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. Because of that dedication, there should be no need to open a resolution dispute before working with us. Please keep in mind, we would prefer to continue to provide you the opportunity to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over 18,000 positive feedback. We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Thank you for your interest and support. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SHIPPING: USA ~ 1 LP = $4.00 Media Priority rates vary by area; please inquire. TRULY MEGA RARE LIMITED EDITION PRIVATE PRESS FROM 1968
THE ROCK SHOP SHOULD WELL APPEAL TO PRIMITIVE RAW GARAGE FANS
UNUSUAL THAT THE SONG WRITING CHORES ARE TAKEN UP EXCLUSIVELY BY THE ROCK SHOP AND APPEAR ABSOLUTELY NOWHERE ELSE!
A Few Ballads but mostly raw, crude rock material with tasty FUZZ guitar The ROCK SHOP was from West Covina California a suberb of Los Angeles.
Hailing from W.Covina, California, Rock Shop became one of the most popular bands in the area, playing regularly at Mr Lee's Swingin' Affair nightclub in West Covina to packed houses. The band's one and only album, released on the Lee-Mo label, took it's name from the nightclub, and featured 12 self-penned tracks of fuzz-led blues and psych, as well as boasting a spoof cover depicting the band as the next Beatles and hairdresser-cum-rock promoter Mr Lee as God! Despite enjoying a minor level of success including supporting both the Shirelles and Big Joe Turner, the band decided to call it a day in 1969, leaving this lone recording as their epitaph...
The LP opens with a killer-track, a fuzz-psycher "Soap suds & creme" which is a quite successful take on the Iron Butterfly/Steppenwolf bag, with a long outrageous guitar break. The rest of the LP (all originals) is more teen beat-sounding and what you might expect from a Sunset Strip band. Although light fare I must admit a couple of them have good, memorable hooks, and excellent fuzz leads keep recurring.
The ROCK SHOP played mainly at Mr Lee's Covina nightclub, where the bulk of the LP pressing was sold. There were also some lounge gigs in Santa Cruz. The band existed roughly a year.
