Description

PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question.   OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. Because of that dedication, there should be no need to open a resolution dispute before working with us.  Please keep in mind, we would prefer to continue to provide you the opportunity to acquire the rare music we present each and every week.   Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable.  We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over 18,000 positive feedback.   We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Thank you for your interest and support.   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SHIPPING:   USA ~ 1 LP = $4.00 Media Priority rates vary by area; please inquire.   All Canadian and Overseas shipping ~ Please inquire about rates. ADVANCED RELEASE WHITE LABEL PROMOTIONAL

Original 1971 first pressing of the second ZEPHYR album, a legendary hippie band from Colorado that had a tight sound, comprised with a top skilled guitarist (so powerful that Deep Purple spotted him and threw mega-bucks his way to join their ranks) as well as a singer who had the range and style of a Janis Joplin "plus" ...

Zephyr is a hard band to describe because each of their 3 studio albums is almost entirely different from the previous one. It is hard to talk about this band without using superlatives so be warned that this is a biased review.

If You are someone who’s never heard this album before, and lucky enough to win it, advise is to use headphones to listen to it -- to shut out the outside world, turn off the lights and crank the volume up a notch past normal because when Candy Givens starts wailing on the harp and singin’ “goin’ back to Colorado” You’re gonna measure how alive you are by how high the goosebumps are on your arms. If you’re not a fan of Cindy’s by the end of the first cut than you’re dangerously close to being soulless. No kidding….this album is so far ahead of it’s time that it’s no wonder they didn’t stay together long.

Back in the early 70's Janis Joplin was thee big deal, getting all the press and Candy could sing just as well. Not only could she wail better than Janis, but she had twice the range and control. Janis had one style, Candy has a different style with each tune. The other part of this band that no other band had to match was the guitar-fire in Tommy Bolin. One of his showstopper tunes finishes out the first side of this album and the guitar playing on that one cut equals anything else produced during the 70’s. The boy had fingers, imagination and style. An old jazz guitar teacher once noted that he could teach you the technique of Tommy Bolin, but the playing comes from deep in the soul, and could not be taught. The album ends with a cut called, “At This Very Moment”. A beautiful tune with wonderful lyrics that will keep you from forgetting that there’s a whole world out there that you cannot see from where you are standing.

Candy and Tommy have both passed on, way before their time, but while they were here they made some awesome music that needs to be passed on so that they’re never forgotten.
