We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over 18,000 positive feedback. We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. EXCEEDINGLY RARE... the widely UNKNOWN final ZEPHYR album.
Most vinyl vampires, even the hard core long timers in universal collector circles have no idea the legendary Colorado late '60s group ZEPHYR released one final album some 38 years ago. Soon after this album was released, Their singer Candy Givens passed away due to an accident as follows:
CANDY Givens had a magnetic stage presence, and a powerful voice in a tiny body. "Candy Givens was a unique musical star that streaked across the Colorado sky and disappeared unexpectedly," observes rock journalist and educator Gil Asakawa. "She had a powerful, throaty voice that could scream the highest rock and roll notes but swoop down to the lowest moaning blues. Her recording with the Colorado band Zephyr are her main legacy, but her voice -- and stories about her -- are scattered here and there within and throughout the local music scene."
Though never a commercial success, Zephyr produced 3, now highly collectible albums and performed live often, including the 1969 Denver Pop Festival, before breaking up in the early '70s. They reunited briefly around 1980, four years after the drug overdose death of their guitarist Tommy Bolin who they lost to DEEP PURPLE.
Just after their final album, a local Colorado issue, Candy drowned in her apartment's Jacuzzi. The toxicology report showed alcohol and Quaaludes in her system.
Years later, in the Tommy Bolin Archives, Candy's ex-husband David wrote:
"Despite her problems, she continued to improve until the last time I heard her sing. She was so good by then, that she held a drunken, rowdy party of international rugby players spellbound for the entire time she was on stage. That’s hard."
- One of the greatest bands in Colorado music history was Zephyr. By the time lead singer Candy Givens died in 1982, the band was a trio that featured Candy (vox, harmonica), David Givens (bass, guitars), and Eddie Turner (guitar, backup vocals) with a rotating cast of drummers and other sidemen that included Ken Lark, Gordon Ray Pryor Jr, and others.
Along the way from 68-82, the band also featured the likes of Tommy Bolin on guitar, Jock Bartley (Firefall, Gram Parsons) on guitar, Otis Taylor on bass, Eddie Turner on guitar, Bobby Berge on drums
In 1982, the band released their final record – “Heartbeat.” In 1982, Candy died – and with her death, so too the album disapeered without a trace. Until now.
Interestingly, the band also recorded a couple of videos, as that was the early years of MTV – and Zephyr was prepared to move into the 80s with Heartbeat …
