Description

An original 1st issue on the CBS label from 1964. Note how I mention "1st issue On CBS"...as very 1st pressing is found ONLY on CBS labels and pressed by Phillips in 1963. Philips copies [the earliest] come from a time when CBS were yet to have acquired plant in the UK. This true CBS pressing comes around a year later - and whilst the LP was still hanging around in the charts. Also note the label design - this is consistent with copies from the 1st couple of years of release with a larger "33" speed. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original cover with flipbacks. Also included is the original inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Vg/Vg+) In very nice condition and has only seen a light to moderate level of use. Under close inspection there are a few light marks per side - nothing heavy or sinister looking. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly VERYGOOD+ level of playback with a few deviations. Intros and inbetweens are very nice and quiet and the audio comes across with really good clarity. An all time classic - how did he manage to knock this LP out at the tender age of 21?- The mind just boggles! Fully acoustic and you're going to need a decent early to do it any sort of justice. This copy won't trouble the top grades, but by and large, it's a decent rendition. I detected a bit of background in a couple of tracks per side e.g.  'Don't Think Twice' & 'Dylan's Blues' & 'Hard Rain'. 'Blowin In The Wind' plays pretty clean, but there were three or four clicks and one brief [non-repeating] skip. You seem to lose one line of verse - the way it occurs is actually not all that intrusive to the flow of the song [but audible all the same]. There's also five ticks as 'Corrina' fades out [absolutely no big deal]. When on song this LP gives you a real taste of the genius at work...
Cover (Ex-) Faring much better than many true original examples. Very nice and clean front with precious little creasing at all - just the slightest dink to the bottom right corner. The rear has escaped the worst of the ageing process and is looking better than many copies do. All flipbacks are intact and secure. The spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. A very fine example indeed.
Inner (Vg+) Light ageing. But no splits.
