As I continue to sell many of my treasured original or early pressings I will strive to provide an honest assessment, including any features that should be included. In this case, I am offering a rare opportunity to buy an album that received little attention at the time of release but ended up being a forerunner for the creation of the wonderful King Crimson and the release of their iconic first album.
The Cheerful Insanity Of is a quirky concept album with a theme for each side. Tracks are interspersed with comments telling a story of Rodney Toady and Just George. Difficult to categorise musically but it did provide elements of what was to come with King Crimson, even showing touches of Pink Floyd on the last track. Having only played the album once or twice decades ago I was confident that play grading would result in classifying the vinyl ad EX bordering on NM. There is very little surface noise, even during the spoken passages by Robert.
Again, to be totally honest, for the benefit of buyer and seller, I had to remove a very sticky label from the front cover (please see photos for verification). Fortunately, it does not detract from the overall quality of the cover when viewed directly. There is also a slight impression from expected ring wear for an album that is fifty six years old. The spine is fully intact and undamaged and I have included the original inner sleeve that I have replaced with a modern, protective sleeve to protect the vinyl. As can be seen there is virtually no spindle wear.

Overall, a rare first pressing on the DERAM label from 1968 and a true gem for collectors, especially those interested in the history of King Crimson.
