The Brooks Family was inspired to begin singing by the Rev. Bill Ballou and The Jefferson Baptist Quartet. Mrs. Brooks sings alto and plays the piano for this group presently. Ben Brooks is a native of Ashe County and Mrs. Brooks is a native of Catawba County. She has been playing the piano and singing since she was five years of age. Ben sings bass with the quartet; his wife Colleen sings alto and plays the piano; the oldest son, Keith is featured guitarist and sings tenor; Jeffrey sings soprano; Renee7, the youngest of the Brooks family is expected to join The Brooks Family Quartet in their appearances soon. The quartet has appearances book- ed almost a year in advance. The group appears each Satur- day at 5:15 over the Mountain Empire Station, WKSK, West Jefferson, North Carolina.
