Description
The Beatles' "White Album", released in the UK (PCS 7067/8) in November 1968. It took approximately 5 months to record the songs for this double Lp....and although the songwriting partnership at this stage between Lennon and McCartney had begun to tarnish, there is no denying the brilliance of some of the material found on this album. Like many, I always felt this would have been a great single Lp, but as a double, it was sometimes self-indulgent. Regardless....sales by the end of 1970 had exceeded six million copies.....
Gatefold Jacket: Very Good .....in the UK, first issues came with jackets that were beautifully laminated on the outside and to the interior gatefold. Records were removed from the top portion of the jacket. Despite some wear to the corners, spine, and a crease near the middle of the front cover, the lamination still holds up quite well. The interior fares a little better with only a touch of yellowing from age. The back has an inoffensive tear at the middle top area. The poster and 4 pictures are missing.
Original (Black) Inner- Sleeves: Excellent.
Records: Very Good +/-......as to be expected, both records have decent weight.....the labels are fairly clean and have spindle marks. Under bright lights one can see hairlines, scuffs, and rubbing marks. Despite this, the audio from all 4 sides was much better than expected ....detailed and balanced with great definition in the bass in particular. There is some surface noise here and there but never did it overpower the music. Not perfect.... but certainly an acceptable and *affordable playing copy.
*Bear in mind, Near Mint copies sometimes sell for $1300.00 U.S. and more; with some having LATER matrix numbers than the one offered here.
