Description

On offer is a very  true first pressing of Sgt. Peppers Lonely Heartsclub Band, in mono. It has the rare 'Fourth Proof' cover. You probably know the story about these, but just in case:

The “Fourth Proof” sleeve represents the earliest possible pressing of the Sgt Pepper cover. The Fourth Proof was the final version of the various ‘prototypes’ that were explored by the Beatles when the cover was being designed. The cover (and text) was approved by the Beatles and an initial very small ‘test’ run was undertaken to make sure everything looked OK. This small test run is characterised by the inverted “Fourth Proof” text in the top right hand corner of the inner gatefold – just above George Harrison’s head. This is therefore the earliest possible ‘prototype’ (test pressing) cover. Same fold-back have can printed text “AR D1321? which was probably the reference number for the prototype text that was used.

So this version has all the characteristics mentioned above. It has the K-T tax code at side 2. The matrixnumbers are: XEX 637-1 / XEX 638-1

The mother/stampers are: 2 GPL & 3 GCA

Condition

The sleeve is in Excellent condition. There is only 1 slight laminate creasing in the middle/right of the cover. You can see it in the first picture. It is not obvious though.

The vinyl is in VG+ condition. I haven't cleaned it yet, so it could be better. But listening to it, there is a bit of surface noise, so VG+ it is.

The Cut-out sheet is in MINT condition!!
