Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band is the eighth studio album by the English rock band the Beatles. Released on 26 May 1967,[nb 1] Sgt. Pepper is regarded by musicologists as an early concept album that advanced the roles of sound composition, extended form, psychedelic imagery, record sleeves, and the producer in popular music. The album had an immediate cross-generational impact and was associated with numerous touchstones of the era's youth culture, such as fashion, drugs, mysticism, and a sense of optimism and empowerment. Critics lauded the album for its innovations in songwriting, production and graphic design, for bridging a cultural divide between popular music and high art, and for reflecting the interests of contemporary youth and the counterculture.
The outer GATEFOLD cover has the much sought after EXTRA WIDE SPINE (8mm instead of the usual 6mm) and has retained a lovely sheen still. Has the usual dirt, age discolouration/wear to the corners/edges as to be expected for an item of this age, and some crinkles to the outer protective film and a nic to the opening edge.
The vinyl has a beautiful glossy sheen in appearance and sits flat to the surface. Lovely clean labels and nice spindle holes. There are some sleeve removal wisps and some visable but non feelable surface lines. Spindle trails can be seen at an angle.
The green Peter Blake cutouts are still beautifully vibrant, has a scuff to the back and minor imperfections.
Completing this set is the ofter missing Red Fool's Swirl protective inner. In general it is lovely for age - has no splits or tears, reinforcement to the inside and minor imperfections.
OVERALL A FANTASTIC, ORIGINAL PIECE TO ADD TO YOUR COLLECTION!!!
